Minted Privacy Policy

Minted helps you track a budget, income, expenses, savings goals, and progress. An account is optional for device-only money features. This Privacy Policy explains what information Minted handles when you use the app, including Friends and Chat.

Operator

Minted, operated by David Achinivu

Who Minted Is For

Minted is intended for people age 14 and older.

If you are under the age of majority where you live, use Minted only as permitted by applicable law and with any parent or guardian involvement that law requires.

Minted is not intended for people under 14.

Information You Give Minted

Depending on the features you use, Minted may handle the following information:

Account and profile information

This can include your email address, display name, profile settings, and a social username if you choose one.

Supabase handles account authentication. Minted does not store your password in your financial records.

Money tracking information

This can include amounts, dates, expense names, notes, income entries, budgets, starting money, savings goals, savings activity, and onboarding answers that you enter into Minted.

These are records you provide yourself. Minted does not retrieve this information from your bank.

Social activity

This can include friend requests, friendships, blocks, discoverability settings, friend-request settings, group membership, and Chat messages you send.

Safety and support information

This can include reports about users or messages, information you voluntarily include in a report, and information you send when contacting Minted support.

Minted does not connect to your bank account, access your bank transactions, or move real money.

Information Created While Minted Operates

Minted and its backend may create information needed to operate the service, including:

  • account and social identifiers
  • message and report identifiers
  • timestamps
  • authentication and session information
  • synchronization status and revision information
  • technical request information needed to operate and secure the service
  • streak information derived from qualifying activity

If you use a signed-in account, your Minted streak summary may be visible to an accepted friend.

Friends cannot access your private budgets, income, expenses, savings goals, or savings balances.

Where Your Information Is Stored

If you use Minted without an account, your financial records remain in the app's device storage and are not synced to Minted's account backend.

If you create an account, your account workspace is stored using Supabase so your Minted data can sync across supported devices.

A saved copy and unsynced changes may also remain on your device.

On supported Android and iOS devices, Minted encrypts saved financial records and account sessions locally using device-backed keys.

No security system can guarantee complete security.

How Minted Uses Information

Minted uses information to:

  • authenticate accounts
  • save and sync user records
  • provide budgeting and savings tools
  • maintain streaks
  • operate Friends and Chat
  • process blocks and reports
  • help protect the service
  • provide support

Being someone's friend on Minted does not give that person access to your private financial records.

Chat, Reports, and Other People

People in a Minted conversation can see messages sent to that conversation.

Your display name and social username may be visible through Minted's social features according to the app's access rules.

Minted provides tools that allow users to block other users and report users or messages.

Submitting a report does not automatically block another person and does not guarantee a particular moderation outcome.

Reports are stored in a restricted moderation system.

Service Providers

Minted uses Supabase for authentication and backend data storage.

When report-email delivery is enabled, Minted uses Resend to send limited report information to a private review email address.

Those report emails may include:

  • report ID
  • report reason
  • type of reported content or account
  • reported username when available
  • related content identifiers
  • time of the report

User-written report details and Chat message bodies are not included in these report emails.

If you contact Minted through email, information you send is also processed by your email provider and the support mailbox provider.

Your Choices

Depending on the features you use, you can:

  • edit supported profile settings
  • edit social privacy settings
  • sign out
  • remove one account's saved data from a particular device
  • block users
  • report users or messages
  • permanently delete your Minted account

You can permanently delete your account from:

Profile → Account → Delete Account

Removing account data from a device is not the same as deleting your Minted account from the cloud.

A device-only Minted workspace is separate from a signed-in account and may remain on the device after an account is deleted.

If you cannot access the app, see: https://getminted.biz/account-deletion

Do not send Minted your password or sensitive financial information by email.

Retention and Account Deletion

Minted keeps account information while your account exists so the app can provide the features you use.

When account deletion completes, Minted removes the deleted account's:

  • synced financial workspace
  • profile
  • social identity
  • friendships
  • friend requests
  • blocks
  • account-related streak data
  • authentication account

The saved copy of that account and pending changes on the device used for deletion are cleared after successful backend deletion.

Copies stored on other devices may require signing out or clearing local account data on those devices.

Information That May Remain

In conversations that remain available to other participants, messages you previously sent may remain as anonymized placeholders or tombstones.

The message text and connection to your former social identity are removed.

Other users' messages and account information are not deleted when you delete your account.

Limited report or safety records may remain when reasonably necessary for:

  • abuse prevention
  • security
  • resolving disputes
  • complying with legal obligations

Identifying information and free-text information connected to a deleted account are minimized by Minted's deletion process.

Emails that have already been delivered through outside email systems may not be possible to recall.

Minted does not state a fixed retention period for these limited records.

Security

Minted uses account authentication, restricted backend access rules, and local encryption on supported native devices to help protect information.

No application, device, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure.

Protect your Minted account credentials and avoid sharing private financial or personal information through Chat.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

Minted may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes.

The current version will show its effective date.

Where required, material changes will be communicated through an appropriate in-app or public notice before they take effect.
